Music

Music is wonderful, no? It is something which can directly speak to all of us. Good music, with a combination of powerful lyrics (which can be every bit as expressive as poetry), with a beautiful tune or melody, has a way of speaking right to the soul. It opens us up, speaks to us on both very basic and very advanced levels atthe same time. It can change our moods in a heartbeat; open us up to new ideas; provide an outlet for fears. It can teach us that everything is not lost, or that one is not alone in feeling down; that it's good to be happy. The simple act of sitting back, closing your eyes and allowing yourself to be consumed by music is one of the most wonderful things you can do. In the time it takes an album to complete, you can feel humbled, ecstatic, elated, depressed, excited, inspired.

If you have not experienced such a thing, then I would suggest you are listening to the wrong sort of music. Try to explore different artists and genres. Find something which can really speak to you. Music that can do this is different for everyone, I think. There's alot of it out there, so open your mind and explore a wonderful world!

In this pages I will try to explain what music makes me feel alive, and why. I will review some albums which I hold close to my heart. I will discuss some particularly beautiful songs, and point out dinstinctly rocking tunes. I recommend trying out some of this music - although of course, I cannot guarantee that its to everyones tastes.

Eventually, this is what will be covered in these pages:

Album Reviews
Here are some particularly good albums that I own. They are different genres, but I would say that they are all broadly 'rock'. Some fast, some slow. Some passionate, some fun. Some soulful, some lively. Enter, and find something new.

Beautiful Music
Some music is beautiful. The lyrics, the sounds, the beat: all are perfectly complementary. Curiously, most 'beautiful' music is often sad - either lyrically or musically. Perhaps this is because I define beautiful music as something which moves me emotionally. Sadness is one of the most powerful emotions, and it is far easier to convery sadness that happiness. Anyway, the stuff in here is really wonderful.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Writing about music with very little knowledge of it is difficult. Things may not happen here for some time :)

Listed below are some bands/artists which I like. Alot of this you won't find in the UK top 20 - its too good for all that nonsense. I'll upload bits and bobs here as and when I feel like it. Follow the links to read more!
